Engineering For Girls (entering grades 8-9)
with Makenzie Witter
Take your engineering skills to the next level. This exciting program offers girls entering grades 8 and 9 a deeper dive into innovation, problem solving and cutting-edge technology. Guided by SDC educators and expert mentors, you’ll tackle more advanced engineering challenges, experiment with high-tech tools and explore the real-world impact of design and innovation. The week builds toward a hands-on project at Corning Community College’s Makerspace, where you’ll bring your ideas to life using CCC’s professional-grade equipment. Whether you’re exploring engineering for the first time or ready to take your skills further, this camp will inspire you to think big, innovate boldly and bring your ideas to life! Campers will work collaboratively with one another, SDC educators, CCC faculty and real life engineers during this fun-filled week. Students will have access to authentic tools, spaces and hands-on experiences while on the Corning Community College campus. This camp is inspired by Iren Bognar, the first female mechanical engineer hired by Corning Glass Works, and is sponsored through donations in her name
