Boys and Girls entering grades 6 and 7, will explore the world of engineering at this exciting camp on the Corning Community College campus. This hands on program introduces campers to innovation, problem-solving and engineering through engaging challenges and creative design projects. The week includes a hands-on project at CCC’s Makerspace, where campers will bring their ideas to life using professional-grade equipment. Whether you’re new to engineering or already love to build, this camp will spark curiosity, build confidence and inspire you to think like an engineer. Campers will collaborate with peers, SDC educators and CCC staff throughout the week. This unique partnership with Corning Community College provides access to authentic tools, spaces and hands-on experiences. This camp is sponsored by John G. Ullman & Associates Foundation.

Campers will investigate plants, insects, weather and soil through hands-on experiments, creative building challenges and outdoor exploration. Each day encourages curiosity as children observe nature, ask questions and design simple solutions inspired by the environment. It’s the perfect mix of outdoor adventure and hands-on STEAM activities.

Guided by SDC educators and expert mentors, you’ll tackle more advanced engineering challenges, experiment with high-tech tools and explore the real-world impact of design and innovation. The week builds toward a hands-on project at Corning Community College’s Makerspace, where you’ll bring your ideas to life using CCC’s professional-grade equipment. Whether you’re exploring engineering for the first time or ready to take your skills further, this camp will inspire you to think big, innovate boldly and bring your ideas to life! Campers will work collaboratively with one another, SDC educators, CCC faculty and real life engineers during this fun-filled week. Students will have access to authentic tools, spaces and hands-on experiences while on the Corning Community College campus. This camp is inspired by Iren Bognar, the first female mechanical engineer hired by Corning Glass Works, and is sponsored through donations in her name
